Greenkeepers Update

The temperature has dropped, days are getting shorter and the leaves are changing colour, it can only mean thing: autumn has arrived.

Now we are nearly at the end of the season, we are looking forward to some much-needed winter projects. Its been an on and off-year in terms of the weather. Our greens, aprons and tees are looking good but we all know about the fairways. Over the season we have struggled with the fairways, this has been due to a very dry summer last year, a dry winter which has then been followed by a heatwave this year.

Over the coming weeks, we will be overseeding the fairways. The works will be completed by me and my team so that we can work with the unpredictable weather. We need there to be rain forecast for multiple days and the seeds require adequate moisture to germinate and grow. The soil temperature has to be between 9-12 Degrees Celsius.

This will hopefully put us in good standing for the winter and the new season next year, I understand that it has been a frustrating time with the challenging conditions and I appreciate your patience.
